Juicy Mother

Cover An all-new queer comics anthology will be published in February 2005 by Soft Skull Press, publisher of the extremely funny Get Your War On strips.
96 pages of strips by the likes of Robert Kirby, Leanne Franson, Howard Cruse and a dozen other queer cartoonists, edited by Jennifer Camper, author of Rude Girls & Dangerous Women and SubGURLZ. It should be fun!
More about this anthology on the publisher's site.

New function for the gallery

I've added a "sort by year of publication" function in the gallery. I hope you'll find it useful.

Hearts & Iron

First issue coverHere's a review of Jeff Jacklin Hearts & Iron, the story of two weightlifters in love. This series, while well-done and full of likable characters, bugs me a little bit because of its insistance on what seems to make a "real man". But I might be reading too much into it.

Love #3

Author(s): Matt Fagan.

coverHere's more Love from Matt Fagan, continuing the everyday adventures of Pokie and Jack (you can get the comic from the author's site). Following the second issue's introduction of new characters, this collection solves the mystery of the weird straight neighbours by taking the strip down a fantasy road for which the author had often proved his fondness, referencing movies, comics, etc. or imagining for one page his characters in fantasy settings.
But that slight shift in tone is never at the expense of his sweet and caring characters, who remain true to themselves. Love continues to bring its readers some much-needed warmth to keep with them during the long winter ahead -and you can take that as a metaphor of current politics if you feel like it.

Gay Robin strip

A panelI wanted to draw your attention to the new online gay erotic comic I linked to, Robin Hoog. It's a very funny, very sexy and very well drawn take on, of course, Robin Hood, with already 150 half-pages drawn. I don't know how long it will be, but I enjoyed it tremendously.
I also added four links to sites of artists with rather varied styles.
