February 2025 reviews on Bluesky

Here are the micro-reviews I’ve posted on Bluesky for the period (various news and links have also been posted):

Power Bear #1-3, self-published by Łukasz Majcher (see @moomcomics.bsky.social).
The very entertaining story of a partnered gay bear who gets superpowers and finds himself defending his species and his planet from bigger and bigger threats.

Roihu, a new anthology by Finnish artists.
A lot of the entries are about people who don't fit, one way of the other. But one of the short stories, specifically queer, is about a young teenager who seems to be the only gay guy in a remote village in Lapland.

Gay Giant, by Gabriel Ebensperger.
An autobio GN of a Chilean childhood and early adulthood full of 90s pop references, stressing a sense of difference and not belonging.
The art is simple and direct, with an effective contrasting use of pink on grey.

Condoms Part One, by Nick Merdasi.
An interesting autobio GN about condoms, their use (or not) and various approaches to safer (or not) sex.
Glossy art and very regular storytelling add to the clinical and slightly detached feel of the stories.
Self-published at link.

Jul Maroh is also the author of the justly celebrated Blue Is The Warmest Color, published a dozen years ago in English, when it was adapted as a film.
A "lesbian love story that crackles with the energy of youth, rebellion, and desire", it garnered praise and awards.
