Week 3 of December reviews on Bluesky

Here are the micro-reviews I’ve posted on Bluesky for the period (various news and links have also been posted):

Spring Rain by @andycomics.bsky.social. A memoir of a 2005 student stay in Beirut. The author, mostly straight, depicts his friendships with numerous queer students, as well as his struggles with mental health and the precarious political situation in Lebanon.

Blackwater, by Jeannette Arroyo and Ren Graham. A good mix of boy-on-boy romance and fantasy, with ghosts, werewolves and a more mature treatment of these than usual. Different chapters drawn by each artists bring an interesting visual variety.

Other Boys, by Damian Alexander. A memoir of growing up as an orphan, living with his brother and their grandparents, bullied at school and slowly realizing he really is different from other boys. Very nice cartoony art leavens the heavy themes.

Skin Deep, by Flo Woolley, is a queer body-horror comic. In an all-female dance house, the lead has disappeared. Was that linked to the weird "enhancements" she was using?
The aesthetics reminded me of Emily Carroll's work.
